"Monica, O My Darling"
Making the most of last weekend, I happened to watch "Monica, O My Darling" the movie. Below are my thoughts on the film.
Starring: Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Pankaj Jha, Durgesh Kumar
I just finished watching this thrilling and riveting crime movie with an unbelievable twist at the end.
" Haseen Dillruba’ has its moments of being unbelievable, but it never stops being a delectably dark and defiant love story with a thrilling twist, a tricky marital affair, and as a thrilling crime drama. Its an intelligent, entertaining film that will take you through all emotions.
Kanika Dhillon, the writer, gently nudges audience towards a complete suspension of disbelief as we become willing voyeurs of a racy and thrilling murder mystery
Instead of focusing on the murder, the story plays out like a psychological thriller, exploring how dormant emotions can completely take over one's personality and transform them to the extent that they are hardly recognisable
Both Tapsee Pannu as Rani and Vikrant Massey as Rishu’s personalities undergo a dramatic flip and it is to the credit of both of them that they are so cooly evocative as they effortlessly settle into the changed pace.
Taapsee plays the free-spirited Rani with aplomb, but her flighty and fun character seems like a carry forward of Rumi in Manmarziyan, right down to her obsessiveness.
Vikrant Massey's seemingly simple personality , but riddled with complexes, makes him uncomfortable with women because he is uncomfortable with himself, fixing things for others, but in a mess within, well educated but insular .
It's story has not been revealed because it may be a thrilling experience while watching.
#Movie_Thappad
Directed by -Anubhav Sinha
Cast- Tapsee Pannu,Kumud Mishra,Pravil Gulati,Ratna PathakSah,Diya Mirza
I saw this beautiful movie only after being in a mood to watch it. During LOCKDOWN days, I saw more movies than I could remember. So, I took a break from watching movies for 3 weeks. Below is my observation about the movie Thappad.”
"#Thappad' resonates with impact in a strong way,This movie tells us all about some or most people living in a marriage, where a wife always has to sacrifice her dreams, her desires, her passion, her career, and sometimes her self-respect too. This Anubhav Sinha movie,Thappad," focuses on gender discrimination to complete the picture. Sinha's biggest credit as far as "Thappad" goes is that he maintains a balance in tone, never getting overly preachy or loud with what his narrative has to convey. This movie delves into husband wife relationship in a subtle way.
Thappad" is not about domestic violence, unlike what the hype may have indicated. The film merely utilises an impulsive act of slapping to lay out an intricate portrait of marital exploitation that could be happening within the confines of any household, that might maintain a picture of calm on the outside. Contrary to what many felt, this film is not about creating circumstances that might open up room for a battle of the sexes. This film questions the male entitlement to superiority in a relationship.
The very brief scene, masterfully written and executed, resonates for the sheer sense of disparity it so simply conveys. Thappad" digs deep to establish the fact that gender discrimination is an outcome of the upbringing of not just men, but also women. The screenplay is quietly effective in the way it shows how the thought of saying sorry, even long afterward, never quite crosses the husband's mind. For Amrita, a lack of remorse sparks off the realisation that her marriage was always built on her husband's ego and not love.
A beautiful movie where one finds stamp, authority, and class of Anubhav Sinha, the director, to the fore.
#Madaari
Madaari, Movie review
It's an out and out Irfan Khan movie who has the power and charisma of impacting his movies in a big way, single-handedly. Madaari is a must-watch for many reasons but foremost is it has a powerful story conveying a strong message against the system. Irrfan Khan's acting is a big compliment for #Madaari.
Madaari, directed by Nishikant Kamat, makes the right noises about the state of the nation and its people owing to the machinations of avaricious and insensitive politicians and crony contractors.
The message conveyed stays at the back of the mind for a longer duration. A good piece of acting, good direction, a well-crafted script, and dialogue delivery are few of the prominent factors. Madaari has all these factors intact. This is probably Irrfan's best performance.
Madaari is about a man Nirmal suffering a big disaster and then fighting back with all his energy and vigor to question the system in place. Irrfan Khan would be remembered for his best performance in the movie.
"777 Charlie
Cast-Rakshit Shetty,Sangeetha Sringerie,Raj B Shetty,Bobby Simha
Director-Kiranraj K
Rating-8/10
I was able to watch this lovely movie, "777 Charlie," yesterday. Though it has been on my list since long on the recommendation of my movie buff friend,. Here is my take on this movie.
Director K Kiranraj, who has penned and directed this story (777 Charlie), focuses on the relationship between Charlie, a labrador retriever, an introvert, and a loner, as essayed by Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty. This is a fabulous story of a bond between a man and his pet.
It's an epic emotional roller coaster with emotions at core all through. RAKSHIT SHETTY has taken the industry to the next level with unique films in the recent past. He, as a Dog - Owner has magically portrayed the emotions superbly. The screenplay keeps the audience entertained & glued to the movie. Rakshit has done his best all through the runtime as serious & arrogant Dharma to a character that melts down as an emotional guy.
Sangeeta Sringeri as Devika, has done her role best . After a long time, we get to see a movie that is such an emotional roller coaster that makes you cry, laugh and feel the whole connection. The whole journey is so beautifully presented that you become part of it. cinematography is next level, with scenes that are delightful to eyes . The film has also maintained a realistic touch and the sports competition scene is just awesome. Dharma, played by Rakshit, is a character you will remember, the extent to which he goes for his pet is something heart touching .
The show stealer of this film remains Charlie, Who makes a place in our heart instantly . The Climax of the film is very touching; it just melts your heart and you are sure to walk out teary along with a beautiful message for life .
❤️ i can't express my feelings towards this movie. The movie was super entertaining and emotions were out of this world. There are lessons to learn, and it teaches how one must be empathetic in life. Life is a gift so make best use of each and every day. After watching the movie, the way you look at dogs will change, and you will start loving the street dogs for sure. Each and every animal on this planet has feelings, and they shower love on people who give them food..
If you are lucky, a dog will come into your life",
Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai-Movie review
I saw "Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai'' on the very first day of its release. The film is a biopic on a humble lawyer from Rajasthan, Advocate PC Solanki, who single-handedly brought justice to the minor girl under the POCSO Act in the much-publicised self-styled godman's sexual assault case. This movie is extraordinary for the exceptional storytelling, drama, and dialogues but, above all, for Manoj Bajpayee’s extraordinary performance.
Manoj Bajpayee shows prowess, especially in adapting mannerisms while interacting with different stakeholders. From determined to scared, emotional, awestruck and outraged, he aces every nuance up his sleeve. He shines in the scene when he breaks down. Instead of explaining why Baba deserves to be punished from a human or legal standpoint, he uses a language they’d understand. He quotes the example of why Lord Shiva refused to forgive his greatest worshiper, Ravan.
The courtroom scenes are showcased with logic and repartee. The writer deserves praise here, sticking close to the facts of the original case instead of embellishing wildly. Elsewhere, a bogus health condition is concocted to move the defendant abroad. But here, the prosecution lawyer foils these manoeuvres with a slew of clever arguments, appeals, and analogies. His play in court is calm and persuasive, yet he isn’t immune to the occasional theatrics, like, loudly slamming his desk while mimicking a hotshot opponent.
One person is enough to move the system by making 'faith', a weapon. This is the punch line of the movie.
